Cicely LaMothe is the Deputy Director of Disclosure Operations in the Division of Corporation Finance. She provides oversight to the nine offices in the Disclosure Review Program tasked with reviewing transactional filings and periodic reports, the Office of Risk and Strategy responsible for identifying evolving and emerging risks and the monitoring of the Division’s internal controls, the Office of Assessment and Continuous Improvement charged with assessing and modernizing the disclosure program and the Disclosure Management Office.
In her 20-year career at the SEC, Cicely has held a number of leadership positions and most recently served as a Disclosure Program Director responsible for advising on a variety of complex accounting and legal matters arising under the Securities Act of 1933, issuer reporting obligations under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). In addition to providing direction on novel and complex issues culminating in public and internal guidance, she has implemented organizational changes including the creation of the Office of Assessment and Continuous Improvement. Prior to joining the SEC, Cicely worked in the private sector as the financial reporting manager for a public company and an auditor for a national accounting firm. She received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Hampton University and is a certified public accountant licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
