Volunteers serving on the AICPA Individual & Self Employed (ISET) Technical Resource Panel have worked on the §199A deduction, PTET regimes, 1099-K, digital assets, disaster relief, key individual developments, and more. This session reviews the AICPA's tax advocacy work in the past year, tax issues on the TRP's agenda, and the key tax developments they are monitoring.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize advocacy projects the AICPA ISET TRP has been working on and monitoring.
  • Identify how advocacy letters can be useful to members.
  • Recall key tax issues affecting individual and self-employed taxpayers, including information reporting, PTET, digital assets, and the impending expiration of numerous TCJA provisions after 2025.
