| In this session among ASLW alumni, panelists will provide insights into their personal journeys, discuss their experiences in the ASLW program and how it prepared them for the workforce, and share some of their early experiences as professionals. Panelists will also discuss their experiences with preparing for the CPA exam and/or other professional designations. They will also share what they see on the horizon for future graduates and their views on the essential knowledge and skills required of young professionals. |
| Corporate culture refers to the beliefs and behaviors that determine how a company’s employees and management interact. Often, corporate culture is implied, not expressly defined, and develops organically over time from the cumulative traits of the people the company hires. This session will dive into what the corporate culture can be like in the accounting profession from an ethnic minority perspective, and our professionals will share tips and advice on how to successfully navigate it. |
| This will be a presentation discussing a variety of techniques and skills for recognizing, responding, and moving beyond micro-aggressive behavior in the workplace, with particular attention paid to racially and culturally insensitive implicit biases. |
| In this panel session students will hear the career pathways of accounting professionals to learn about the vast opportunities that exist. These professionals will share their career journey, emphasize the strategic choices they made along the way, share experiences that shaped their decisions and highlight the value that being a CPA has brought to their life. |
