Philadelphia Regional DIrector, EBSA - US Department of Labor

Michael Schloss - Since 2016, Michael has been EBSA's Philadelphia Regional Director responsible for overseeing the Agency's enforcement, outreach, and participant assistance activities relating to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act ("ERISA") in the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and Sothern New Jersey. EBSA's "terminated vested participant project" began in the Philadelphia Region under Michael's direction and has produced billions of dollars in recoveries for America's retirees and their families. Prior to joining EBSA, Michael was Counsel for Financial Litigation in the Plan Benefits Security Division of the Department of Labor's Office of the Solicitor (PBSD) where he handled many high-profile district court and appellate matters. Notably, Michael served as PBSD's lead trial attorney in the Department's action against Enron, Lay, Skilling, Enron's Board of Directors and others. He began his legal career in 1988 as a litigation associate in southern California before moving to Washington, D.C. in 1991 to become a Trial Attorney in PBSD. Prior to law school, Michael worked as a consulting computer programmer, office automation specialist and system project manager at several companies including TRW (Space & Technology Group), Oppenheimer & Co. and J.C. Penney.
