Michael Schertzinger CPA

Manager – Professional Ethics, AICPA

Michael is a manager in the Professional Ethics Division at the AICPA. Michael is responsible for investigating allegations of noncompliance of AICPA and state CPA society members who may have violated professional standards (e.g. GAAP, GAAS, GAGAS, and Uniform Guidance), helps members with questions about independence to comply with the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct, and works with the Professional Ethics Executive Committee with standard setting and member enrichment projects.

Prior to joining the Professional Ethics Division, Michael spent 20 years in public accounting working on a variety of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, not-for-profit, state and local governments, single audits, and various others.

Michael received both his B.S. in Business Administration and MBA, with a concentration in accounting, from East Carolina University. Michael is a licensed certified public accountant in North Carolina, a member of the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA), and the Government Accounting and Auditing Committee of the NCACPA.
