Chris joined Maloney + Novotny LLC in 1994 and was elected shareholder in 2009. Chris has a wide range of experience with both tax-exempt and taxable entities. Prior to joining Maloney + Novotny, Chris worked for three years at a Big Four firm where he gained extensive expertise in not-for-profit tax matters. Chris has a diversified business background including significant experience in tax and consulting services. He is particularly knowledgeable in tax matters for not-for-profit clients and employee benefit plans. He consults with clients on numerous issues related to their tax- exempt status, complying with unrelated business income tax laws and restructuring taxable and tax-exempt groups. Chris has also conducted numerous "mock IRS audits" of tax-exempt entities and retirement plans. In addition, he works with closely-held companies and consults with high net-worth individuals. Chris' vast experience in taxation has positioned him as a leading taxpayer advisor when Internal Revenue Service and state tax audits arise. His impressive background of tax and business knowledge and experience enable him to bring leading-edge tax planning strategies to our clients. Chris earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame in 1991 and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1993. As a member of the Ohio Society of CPAs, Chris is former chair of the Newsletter Committee. Chris is Chair of the AICPA Technical Resource Panel for Exempt Organizations. The Panel interfaces regularly with members of the IRS and Treasury to assist clients with complex tax compliance matters. He has been a frequent speaker on tax-exempt and retirement plan topics for the AIPCA, Ohio Society of CPAs, the United Way, the Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations, the Ohio Association of College and University Business Officers, and for firm-sponsored seminars.
