With unprecedented volatility, low returns and high correlations traditional asset allocation and MPT have come under increasing criticism. This session will challenge those critics and offer suggestions for implementing an intelligent, "buy and manage" asset allocation program based on sound long term investment principals. While diversification within the fixed income portion of client portfolios has received little attention historically, it is of crucial importance currently given structural changes in both rate and credit markets. In this session panelists discuss the merits and methods of building portfolios of uncorrelated return sources by capitalizing on relative value opportunities across traditional, alternative and private FI markets. Portfolios equipped to deliver compelling risk/adjusted returns through a variety of market environments.
