Public Private Partnership (PPP) From a Contractor's Perspective

Many state governments have embraced PPP financing to help pay for new projects, and it is becoming a new revenue source for contractors. This session will explain the following:
• How PPPs work, from inception to owning and operating a completed project
• Why surety is also unique in PPPs, as viewed from a contractor’s perspective
• How the unique legal structure of PPPs can put undue burden on a
contractor — various options that limit the contractor’s risk
• The unique accounting for PPPs on the concession books
• The unique accounting requirements when the contractor also has an owner
interest in the concession
