This includes sessions from ENGAGE 2020:

The session will provide a “Top Ten” list of issues, traps for the unwary and “unexpected foot-faults” that Estate Planners can experience specifically involving S Corporations. This includes not only gift tax and estate tax issues, but also situations involving Fiduciary Income Tax (Form 1041) return preparation as well as trusts being ineligible to hold S Corporation stock.

Learning Objectives

  • Understanding the rules and requirements for trusts and estates as owners of S Corporations, and the special treatment, procedures or calculations that are necessary when a client (or the client’s estate or trust) owns S Corporation stock
  • Identifying common (as well as some “less frequent”) situations where a problem or unexpected result may exist, which the CPA, attorney or financial adviser may not otherwise recognize as being worthy of concern
