Anticipating and Addressing Identity Theft and the Impacts of IRC 7216

This session will address the government’s attempts to prevent identity theft as well as address the needs of identity theft’s victims. It will also identify strategies available to practitioners and taxpayers in protecting against and reacting to identity theft. The overall discussion will take place in the context of the stringent return preparer confidentiality responsibilities articulated in IRC 7216.
