The world has dramatically changed under COVID-19, climate change decarbonization and the oil price collapse. But what changes stick? And how will that affect our future? This panel will explore the 8 potential lasting changes of COVID on the Oil & Gas industry as well as share perspectives from millennials on how energy companies can attract and engage this generation. Key questions the panel will explore include:
a) How to make energy more enticing as an industry for millennials
b) What changes are relative to millennial sentiment under COVID? Many are in middle management and play an important role in guiding leaders as well as engaging the next generation.
c) What recommendations would they offer to energy companies on how to engage younger generations?
Join this discussion of how PE participates in a Restructuring North American Exploration and Production (E&P) sector.
This session will provide an overview of ESG: what is it, who wants it, and why. As a manager of private equity funds, understanding and complying with institutional investor’s ESG concerns is becoming increasingly important. While the general expectation is clear, it isn’t always clear what exactly needs to be done, how to measure it and how to report it. Now several years into their ESG journey, EnCap will share best practices, including those related to methane emission, water usage, diversity & inclusion, community impact and governance.
"Digitization" is a popular topic in Oil and Gas - but one where success can be hard to achieve. This session will describe WHAT digital is, WHY its important, WHAT results Oil and Gas companies have been able to achieve, and - most importantly - HOW those companies have been able to accomplish those results. This session will spend very little time on technology - but extensive time on how different approaches can lead to substantial operation efficiencies.
In this session we will review the current capital market environment for energy companies (public and private), explore how we got here and where do we go next. We will cover the ever-growing role of ESG as it is tied to capital availability, mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcy and more importantly capital market challenges upon emergence and valuation.
This session will review recent changes to reporting partner information on Schedule K-1 and correcting partnership returns.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) is in sharp focus today for corporations in the US and around the world. The oil and gas industry has made some progress in the diversity space, but additional steps can be taken to further build upon the growth and be more inclusive of the changing workforce demographics. This session will explore the key business drivers for effective, intentional progress on the DE&I agenda.
The onset of COVID-19 in March changed the supply/demand dynamics of the US industry forever but at the core, the macro always leads the micro, and in this session, we will discuss both.
“2020” sent everyone scrambling to a remote work environment and many folks are still there. How did it go, how is it going, and where do we go from here? More than our work environment has changed - how is that impacting you, your companies, your ability to meet reporting and compliance obligations and your service providers?
Oil and gas producers today face a dynamic set of challenges to navigate for long term success. Foremost among these are (1) delivering supply as energy demand grows; (2) enabling energy transition; and (3) meeting investor requirements for performance and distributions. This session delves into the forces shaping the oil market environment and looks ahead to assess the roles for oil and gas in a world transitioning to lower carbon energy. And we wrap up with a discussion of strategies that companies can adopt to succeed and thrive through volatile market conditions and the energy transition.
Investor and lender interest in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) information is growing rapidly. This session will compare and contrast commonly used disclosure frameworks, including the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and Task Force on Climate-Related Disclosure (TCFD) recommendations.
As companies are navigating the current economic and market conditions, many are faced with adjusting their capital structure to manage liquidity and put themselves in a better position to handle an unpredictable future. In this session, we will begin with a review of basic income tax concepts applicable to debt instruments and borrowing. We will then discuss US income tax issues commonly encountered by oil and gas companies when they look to restructure debt through negotiation with creditors or a bankruptcy proceeding. From delaying interest payments to a Chapter 11 reorganization, transactions that involve debt also involve complex tax rules that can either be an opportunity or a trap.
This session will explore hot topics in financial reporting and accounting for entities in the oil and gas industry.
Oil & Gas companies are aggressively automating and applying digital technologies, but are they realizing the value from these investments? Value is realized when people change the way they think and act and when Finance changes the roles and personas in the organization to enable new capabilities and shift to value creation activities.
