Zachary Hafner

Zachary Hafner brings more than 15 years of health care consulting and professional experience to his role as a member of The Advisory Board’s Health Care Strategy practice. As Principal, Zach serves The Advisory Board clients on a national basis working for health systems, payers, retailers, and others on a range of key strategic and financial issues. His areas of expertise include strategic growth, delivery system optimization, physician-hospital alignment and integration, high-performing network development and related product strategy, value-based payment models, and strategic partnership evaluation/development. In recent years, Zach has worked with some of the country’s most progressive health systems on “volume to value transformation” – both planning and execution. He is a regular speaker on health care issues, and has authored numerous articles for various industry publications. Prior to joining The Advisory Board, Zach served as Senior Advisor for several of the industry’s marquis consulting firms throughout his 15-year consulting career. Zach began his career in health care at UnitedHealthcare where he was responsible for structuring hospital and physician contracts. In addition he supported multiple new product development campaigns. Zach earned a Master of Business Administration in finance from Pepperdine University located in Malibu, Calif., and a Bachelor of Science in physiology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
