Stacey Chappell
Director, Advocacy and External Communications, American Hospital Association
Stacey Chappell is the director of advocacy and external communications at the American Organization for Nursing Leadership, an American Hospital Association affiliate. She oversees the association's communication strategies, external relations and advocacy efforts. Stacey leads the association's grassroots activities, including the annual fly-in. She manages media requests, writes policy statements and briefs, testimony and all external communications from association leadership. In addition to her AONL responsibilities, Stacey serves on several AHA cross- association initiatives, including Hospitals Against Violence and behavioral health.
Beginning her career working on Capitol Hill, Stacey has more than 20 years of public affairs experience in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. Stacey previously served as manager of governmental affairs at the American Dental Hygienists' Association, where she oversaw public policy efforts in 26 states and assisted state association leadership in developing legislative and communications strategy to ensure consistency in messaging among the association, state affiliates and grassroots members. Additionally, she managed the association's political action committee.
Stacey lives in Chicago and is a graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee. She holds a certificate in PAC and Grassroots Management from the Public Affairs Council.
