George S. Willie has had a long career in public accounting with emphasis on the audits of healthcare, government and not-for-profit entities. He lectures extensively on issues relating to the accounting profession. George currently serves as the U.S. representative to the Small and Medium Practices (SMP) Committee of the International Federation of Accountants. George is the former Chair and a current member of the Montgomery County Employees Retirement System – Board of Trustees. He is a member of the AICPA's National Commission on Diversity and Inclusion and a member of the audit committee of the American Institute for Research. He serves on the Board of Visitors of Howard University School of Business and on the Dean’s Council of the Kogod School of Business - American University. He is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the University of the District of Columbia, and currently chairs the Advisory Board for the Center for Accounting Education – Howard University. George previously served on the Board of Directors of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA); and has chaired the AICPA Private Companies Practice Section. He is the former Chair of the AICPA Minority Initiatives Committee and is a former member of the AICPA Board of Examiner (CPA Exam) and the Advisory Council (Yellow Book) Government Accountability Office (GAO). Mr. Willie has received numerous accolades, including the recognition as one of the nation’s most influential practitioners by CPA Magazine and Accounting Today, the 2013 Diversity & Inclusion Award from the Michigan Association of CPAs and, the Distinguished Alumni Award in the field of Business and Community Service from Howard University. Mr. Willie holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Magna Cum Laude) in accounting from Howard University and a Masters of Business Administration in finance from American University.
