Scott Buffington

Scott Buffington serves as Senior Director, National Retirement Sales for Paychex. In this capacity, Buffington leads the development and oversight of the go-to-market strategy, strategic partnerships, and field execution for Paychex's National Retirement Sales organization. Buffington assumed this role in March 2024, bringing with him a wealth of diverse expertise in the financial services and retirement planning industries. Buffington's distinguished career includes his tenure as Founder and CEO of 401kplans.com LLC, a pioneering digital marketplace utilized by many of the largest distributors of retirement plans. Following the acquisition of 401kplans.com LLC by Envestnet, Buffington was named Head of Sales for the Workplace Solutions Division.

Prior to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Buffington served as the Head of Sales for MassMutual Retirement Services, overseeing the industry's largest external sales force. His expertise in distribution spanned all plan sizes, tax codes, and channels. At MassMutual, he held various leadership positions, including National Sales Manager and leader of the Business Development Team, which consisted of Key Account Management, Market Development, and Investment Manager relationships. Before joining MassMutual, Buffington spent more than a decade at Putnam Investments as a Senior Vice President, focusing on retirement plan and institutional sales. Acknowledged as a leader within the retirement services sector, Buffington is a soughtafter expert and speaker at industry conferences. Buffington's expertise has led to consulting engagements with large broker-dealers and invitations to serve on the board of directors for similar startup ventures.

Outside of his professional commitments, Buffington is an avid boater and golfer. Buffington resides in Naples, Florida and prioritizes time with his family, cherishing moments with his four children.
