Scott Belshaw Ph.D.

Associate Professor/Director, University of North Texas

Dr. Scott Belshaw holds a Ph.D. in Juvenile Justice from Prairie View A&M University, a member of the Texas A&M University System. He is currently an Associate Professor of criminal justice at the University of North Texas and has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in criminal justice, psychology, and cyber security. Dr. Belshaw is the current founder and director of the Cyber Forensics Lab at the University of North Texas and supervises forensic analysts and graduate students analyzing cell phones, tablets and laptop evidence for various law enforcement agencies in North Texas.

Dr. Belshaw has created and teaches various undergraduate and graduate classes of computer crime and information warfare. He is considered an expert in technology and cyberwarfare for law enforcement agencies. He is also the author of software that takes cell phone data and creates a GIS output for law enforcement. Dr. Belshaw has developed numerous patented technology projects including an anti-piracy laser that prohibits cameras from recording movies in the theaters. He has also developed products in noise reduction for the military and law enforcement community. Dr. Belshaw has secured numerous public and private grants in the cyber and technology related fields. He has served as a trainer for various correctional and law enforcement agencies.
