Prof. Saurav Dutta is an Associate Professor and the Chairman of the Department of Accounting, Business Law and Taxation at the State University of New York at Albany. He holds a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Bombay, India) and a Ph. D. in Accounting from the University of Kansas. He is a Certified Management Accountant and received the Robert Beyer Silver Medal in 1989 for securing the second highest total score (nationally) in the CMA examination held in June 1989. He was also the recipient of the National Talent Search Scholarship awarded by the National Council of Education, Research and Training (NCERT, India) in 1979. Prior to joining the faculty at SUNYA School of Business, he was teaching at the Graduate School of Management, Rutgers University. He served as an Academic Fellow in the Office of Chief Accountant at the Securities and Exchange Commission. He has authored a book, Statistical Techniques in Forensic Accounting, FT Press (2013) and a monograph on Forensic accounting for the Institute of Management Accountants. He has published over 30 papers in academic journals and has made over 75 presentations in academic and practitioner conferences.
