Robert Hay
CAE, Associate Director, ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership
As Associate Director – Large Staff and Government Relations, Robert Hay, Jr. MA, CAE interacts daily with association executives in myriad ways. He currently serves as the liaison to the large association community, which translates to working with the executive staff of the country’s largest associations to ensure ASAE is meeting their needs as well as creating new products and services through to help run their association. He is also a federally registered lobbyist with responsibility for health care policy and other association management issues. Hay currently sits on the board of the Association for Government Relations Professional (AGRP) and was recognized in 2013 with their Volunteer of the Year Award.
Prior to joining ASAE in 2006, Hay worked in government relations at the American Veterinary Medical Association, where in addition to grassroots, he was responsible for monitoring and advocating on such diverse issues such as disaster relief, health care, and student loan repayment. Hay's love of the Senate and all things legislatively arcane came from working in the U.S. Senate for then-Majority Whip Harry Reid of Nevada in 2002.
Hay received his MA in Congressional Studies and BA in Politics from The Catholic University of America. He serves on the Alumni Association Board of Governors for CUA.
