Rob Batarla MBA, CPA, CAE

Rob Batarla, MBA, CPA, CAE has held several positions including, Senior Auditor, Controller, Director of Finance & Administration and CFO in many different settings including public accounting, insurance and associations over the past fifteen years. Currently, he is the Executive Vice President, Finance & Operations and the Chief Financial Officer for the American Physical Therapy Association in Alexandria, VA, a national professional organization representing more than 95,000 members with the goal of fostering advancements in physical therapy practice, research, and education.

Rob is a licensed CPA in the state of Maryland, and a Certified Association Executive (CAE) through the American Society of Association Executive (ASAE). Rob obtained his BBA with a concentration in Accounting from the College of William and Mary and his MBA with coursework specific to non-profit and engineering management from Old Dominion University.

Rob has also spent five years as both an undergraduate and graduate level adjunct professor at The American University teaching Managerial Accounting, Cost Accounting and Governmental & Nonprofit Accounting.

Rob has volunteered his time with ASAE, where he sat on the Finance and Business Operations Section Council for six years, including being Chair. He enjoys creating and teaching classes centered on nonprofit finance. As a frequent speaker at nonprofit conferences ranging from PCMA to ASAE, he doesn’t mind being in front of a crowd. He also contributes regularly to many publications, including being a chapter author in ASAE 3rd edition of Professional Practices in Association Management. He is a former member of the AICPA's Exempt Organizations Expert Panel and the Not-For-Profit Audit Committee Toolkit Task Force. Rob is a past audit committee member for the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, current board member for Studio Theatre and past board member and artistic director for Vpstart Crow, a professional theatre company.
