Richard Paul is a partner in the NJ audit practice of Deloitte & Touche LLP. Richard practices primarily in the Travel, Leisure and Hospitality industry. Richard also maintains a role in the Accounting Standards and Communications Group in Deloitte’s National Office. As part of his national office role, Richard chairs the AICPA’s Financial Reporting Executive Committee, the senior technical committee of the AICPA for financial reporting (formally known as AcSEC). Richard is a frequent speaker on financial reporting and emerging accounting topics and has been quoted in a number of trade journals. He often consults with Deloitte’s largest clients on complex accounting and financial reporting topics. His areas of expertise include the accounting for revenue recognition, income taxes, and business combinations. Richard recently completed a two year assignment with the Financial Accounting Standards Board as a Practice Fellow. This entailed making recommendations to the Board on technical issues, developing and drafting FASB guidance, analyzing comments from constituents, and leading discussions at meetings of the FASB and Emerging Issues Task Force. Richard graduated from Baruch College with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting. He is a CPA in the states of New York and New Jersey and is member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
