Peggy Bogadi
Commissioner, Wage & Investment (W&I) Division, IRS
Peggy Bogadi serves as the Commissioner of the Wage and Investment (W&I) Division, responsible for the administration of tax laws governing individual wage earners in the United States. She has responsibility for more than 50,000 employees, located in 400 Taxpayer Assistance Centers, 10 Service Centers, and 26 Call Sites, nationwide. The W&I Division serves millions of individual and business customers, and is responsible for the processing of more than 140 million individual tax returns, resulting in more than 109 million individual refunds issued, totaling nearly $300 billion. The W&I Division operates with an annual budget of approximately $3 billion. Peggy was appointed as Commissioner, W&I in January 2012.
Prior to this assignment, Peggy was the W&I Division Deputy Commissioner for Operations. In this position, she had oversight of the following W&I organizations: Customer Assistance, Relationships, and Education (CARE); Customer Account Services (CAS); and Compliance. These three organizations employ approximately 50,000 employees and are responsible for delivering customer service (including telephone and face-to-face assistance) and tax return processing for all of America's taxpayers as well as compliance activities for wage and investment taxpayers.
