With a deep background in all aspects of federal tax consulting and planning, Monte Jackel is nationally known for his expertise in the area of partnership taxation, where he has advised taxpayers ranging from Fortune 500 companies to closely held businesses and their owners. Monte has practiced federal tax law for over 35 years in both the private sector and the Federal government. Monte served as an Attorney-Advisor in the Treasury Department’s Office of Tax Policy, Washington, D.C., where he worked on many significant partnership guidance projects, as well as projects in other areas of federal tax law, particularly relating to financial products, corporate taxation and international tax. In the national office of the IRS' Office of Chief Counsel, Washington, D.C., Monte served as both the Associate Chief Counsel (Domestic-Technical), and later as a Special Counsel in the Passthroughs and Special Industries division. Monte is a prolific writer and speaker, with a national reputation for scholarship. He is a regular columnist with Tax Notes, a nationally known tax publication, published by Tax Analysts, Fairfax, Virginia, where Monte writes a monthly column entitled "State of the Tax Practice”, as well as authoring various other commentary, articles and analysis. Monte speaks periodically at various national and local tax conferences and seminars. Monte is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, and the District of Columbia, Washington, D.C. Monte graduated with a B.A., Queens College, CUNY; a J.D., Hofstra University School of Law; and an LL.M. in Taxation, New York University School of Law. Monte lives and practices in Silver Spring, Maryland.
