Michael is a Partner in KPMG's Department of Professional Practice in New York leading the Financial Assets and Services Topic Team covering financial instruments, banking, investment management, broker-dealers and mortgage banking. Previously, he led KPMG's OnCall Technical Accounting Advisory Services. In that capacity he also led the risk management function for Accounting Advisory Services. Prior to that Michael provided Financial Statement Audits in KPMG's Northeast Financial Services practice focusing on banks, mortgage banks and finance companies.
Michael is KPMG's representative on the AICPA's Depository Institutions Experts Panel and a member of the AICPA Banks & Savings Institution Conference Committee. He is a contributing author of KPMG's publications on Credit Losses, Transfers and Servicing, Fair Value, Leasing, Consolidations, Equity Method, Financial Statement Presentation and Statement of Cash Flows and KPMG's Defining Issues. He also has authored several articles appearing in industry publications on accounting and financial reporting matters.
Michael has previously prepared reports for matters before the United States Bankruptcy Court and served as an Expert Witness before the United States District court for the District of Massachusetts in Boston on matters related to the application of accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America. In addition, Michael has served as an Arbitrator relating to disputes pertaining to business combinations.
