Associate General Counsel and Employment Law Unit Chief, Department of Justice

Matt Rizzo serves as an Associate General Counsel and Employment Law Unit Chief in the Office of the General Counsel at the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. Over the course of his career, including almost two decades in private law practice, Matt has represented employers in a wide range of industries in all aspects of labor and employment disputes in federal and state courts, before administrative agencies and in union arbitration proceedings. In addition, he has counseled private and public sector employers on labor and employment issues with a focus on avoiding litigation and proactively managing risk. For over twenty-five years, he has taught graduate courses in employment law, business law and civil litigation and currently serves on the adjunct faculty at Georgetown University where he teaches in the graduate Human Resource Management program. Matt is admitted to practice law in Washington D.C., Virginia, and Maryland. He earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from George Washington University Law School and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English, magna cum laude, from Lafayette College.
