Mary is a tax specialist in the Washington National Tax Office of Deloitte Tax LLP on tax matters related to tax-exempt organizations. She consults with her clients on matters which are unique to educational institutions, healthcare organizations and other tax exempt organizations, including compensation issues, state retirement plans and IRC Sec. 403(b) plans, reporting and withholding on fringe benefits, treatment of payments to nonresident aliens, unrelated business income tax and treatment of tax-exempt financing. Mary has significant experience working with tax exempt organizations that are undergoing IRS audits.
Mary received her bachelor’s degree from Ohio University and her master’s degree from the University of Illinois. She is a former member of the IRS Advisory Committee for Tax Exempt and Governmental Organizations and a past Chair of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Tax-Exempt Organizations Tax Technical Resource Panel. Mary is a frequent speaker for the Healthcare Financial Management Association, the American Health Lawyers Association, Central Association of College and University Business Officers, the National Association of College and University Business Officers and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She is a member of the Ohio University School of Accountancy Advisory Council.
