Martin P. Averill is a Member of Looper Reed & McGraw's Oil & Gas section in Dallas where he is an accomplished oil and gas attorney with significant experience in both transactional and litigation matters. His practice is diversified among various issues common to upstream oil and gas production and pipeline operations, litigation and transactions, including: Acquisition and divestiture of assets, due diligence; joint exploration and operation negotiations and agreements; farmouts; leasing, surface use agreements, easements; lender and borrower representations in secured lending facilities; federal, state and municipal regulation and preemption; pipeline easements, cleaning and maintenance, repair and eminent domain; gas gathering and purchase agreements; litigation and arbitration both federal and state; bankruptcy representation for industry creditors and operators. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Averill served as a Judicial Clerk for the Honorable Pascal F. Calogero, Chief Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court. Mr. Averill received his JD from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he served as an Articles Editor for the North Carolina Law Review.
