MARLENA NORRIS is Vice President of Americas Hotels and Latin America / Caribbean Finance for InterContinental Hotels Group, Inc. She serves as the business partner to senior corporate and operational teams providing leadership and support in developing business plans and financial strategies to achieve overall profit and growth objectives; measuring, tracking and challenging overall performance. She is also responsible for providing leadership, oversight and guidance to Americas’ company-owned and managed hotel and regional controllers/directors. Marlena and her team assist with translating business needs and opportunities into financial strategies, projects and actions that maximize returns and mitigate risk.
Marlena has over 25 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience (13 with IHG) which include audit, SEC and tax reporting, accounting, financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
Marlena received her bachelor’s degree and MBA from Oklahoma City University in Accounting and Finance. She has been and continues to be affiliated with a number of organizations: Association of Professional Accountants, National Association of Black Accountants, NABHOOD, National Association of Black MBA’s, Junior Achievement and Georgia Diversity Counsel. She’s served on the boards of Jomandi Productions and the YWCA’s Atlanta chapter. She is actively involved in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. the Georgia 100 and has received several awards for outstanding leadership, mentoring and coaching. In 2012, Marlena received Atlanta’s Most Powerful and Influential Women award for her business leadership and work in the Atlanta community.
