Manj Kalar founded Kalar Consulting in 2017 following a long career in the UK civil service and professional accountancy associations.
She worked in Whitehall for 17 years across various government departments and was involved in implementing accruals accounting for government expenditure and income for HMRC, turnaround of the Home Office Resource Accounts. She also worked on developing the whole of government accounts and led on the consolidation of local government accounts.
Manj joined CIPFA in 2011, leading on central government and financial management, then moved to ACCA in 2016 as Head of Public Sector.
As an independent consultant, Manj is currently working with a range of clients including CIPFA and the World Bank, where she is advising on the implementation of International Public Sector Accounting Standards.
Manj is passionate about good public financial management through better financial reporting and firmly believes that, to make the right decisions, governments need complete information about their finances.
