R. Kelly Plato is the President of Rockport Energy Resources, LLC a private E&P company focused on the acquisition and development of oil and gas assets in North America. Given current market conditions, Rockport has been actively pursuing opportunities to acquire the securities and assets of distressed companies. Mr. Plato has over 24 years of engineering, investment and executive experience in the energy industry. Most of Mr. Plato’s career has focused on acquiring and developing E&P companies and assets as an executive and private equity investor, but his career has also included significant experience with distressed energy companies. As an executive, he has managed all aspects of the reorganization of two E&P companies with liabilities in excess of $500 million through Chapter 11 proceedings and as an investor Mr. Plato has acquired over $300 million of distressed energy debt in the secondary market. Prior to Rockport, Mr. Plato served as the Sole Manager and Chief Financial Officer of ERG Resources, LLC, a privately held E&P company, and managed all aspects of ERG’s restructuring. Prior to ERG, he served as Chief Investment Officer of NGP Capital Resources Company, one the investment platforms of NGP Energy Capital Management, which focused on providing debt and equity capital to the energy industry. Additionally, Mr. Plato was a co-founder and partner of Odyssey Energy Capital, a private capital provider with AUM in excess of $300 million, and he has served on the governing boards of one public and several private E&P companies. Mr. Plato has a Bachelor of Science, Petroleum Engineering degree from Texas A&M University and a Juris Doctorate degree from South Texas College of Law.
