Katie Gilden, CPA/CFF, CFE, CVA Fiske and Company Principal, Forensic Accounting & Litigation Support Services Katie Gilden joined Fiske & Company in 2009. She has since become Principal of the Forensic Accounting and Litigation Support Services Practice of the firm and contributes to its reputation as not only one of South Floridas leading CPA firms, but also one of the Top Litigation Support Accounting Firms in the region. In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Katie is Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) from the AICPA, and has earned the designation Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Katie is also a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), a designation bestowed by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts. Prior to joining Fiske & Company, Katie served as Principal for a boutique consulting firm that specialized in forensic accounting investigations of complex financial matters related to civil litigation cases and bankruptcy. Earlier in her career, she worked for Deloitte and Touche as well as for another Big 5 public accounting firm. Over the last 10 years Katie has provided litigation support services in cases dealing with fraud and professional negligence. Her skills extend from evaluating and assessing accounting and audit work papers to assisting Trustees, Receivers, Debtors, and Assignees for Creditors with the accounting and financial aspects of fiduciary duties. Katie has significant experience with extensive analysis of complex tax and financial planning strategies, as well as using financial analysis models to compute monetary savings resulting from those strategies. Katies expertise extends to tax matters as well. She has developed pro-active tax strategies to minimize tax liability and mitigate future tax exposure for clients. Katie has also provided clients with state and local tax consulting services. Significant engagements include a complex forensic investigation for the Receiver and Trustee in a $220 million factoring fraud case, in which Katie provided forensic accounting support leading to jury verdicts of $170 million in compensatory and $351 million in punitive damages against BDO Seidman. Another important case involved forensic accounting and litigation support for the Trustee of a failed 276-unit real estate condo conversion in Orlando with $10 million in unregistered REIT funds. Katies recent awards include being named a Top CPA in Litigation Support by the South Florida Legal Guide in 2013 and 2014, and a 2014 Up and Comer in Professional Services by Lifestyle Media Group. Articles she has co-authored have been published in the Daily Business Review in 2013 and the South Florida Legal Guide in 2014.
