As a member of HORNE's board of directors, Katherine Watts is working diligently to guide the firm into the future of the profession. She leads HORNEs Belonging at HORNE journey, seeking to create an environment where each and every team member can reach his or her full potential. Throughout her own career, she has often been the first or only woman in a given position of leadership, fueling her passion for sponsorship, advocacy and role models in the accounting profession. Kathy is the partner in charge of healthcare services at HORNE.

Kathy’s focus is financial consulting and strategy for physicians and their medical practices. She has collaborated with hundreds of physicians and practice administrators to achieve both personal and business goals ranging from startups to succession plans.

Her healthcare practice strategy experience is grounded in integration strategies, mergers and acquisitions, compensation design, financial modeling, compliance and risk management needs, ownership transfers and consolidation advice.

Kathy’s accounting background includes assurance, tax and consulting services, outsourced accounting and CFO services, benchmarking, bank negotiations, strategic planning and decision support.

Kathy is the partner in charge of HORNE’s healthcare practice. She was recently named to the 2018 Most Powerful Women in Accounting list by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and CPA Practice Advisor.

The Most Powerful Women awards honor 25 women nationally who are having an impact on the accounting profession as a whole and in particular, on the lives of small practitioners.

Kathy earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Alabama and is licensed to practice public accounting in Tennessee and Mississippi.
