Karl Brunner serves as an Audit Director for the Nevada practice of Deloitte & Touche LLP. He is a firm-designated specialist in service to the hospitality and gaming industry. As Nevada’s Deputy Professional Practice Director and Associate IPPD for the gaming sector he has 33 years of relevant audit experience. The past four years (until May 2013) he has been a team leader in the Firm’s Internal Inspections Group.
Karl served as the Chairman of the AICPA Task Force that revised the AICPA Casino Audit and Accounting Guide issued the summer of 2011. He continues to assist the AICPA on industry projects and issues including the proposed revenue recognition standard as it relates to the gaming sector and in updating the guide for conforming changes. He served two terms as president of the Nevada State Board of Accountancy and served as Las Vegas chapter president of the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has served on several occasions as a facilitator at Deloitte Partner and Senior Manager Technical Excellence training seminars.
Karl has written articles and made conference presentations on topics related to gaming, SEC and other accounting matters. He has assisted in consulting projects for Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in Macau, Portugal, England, South Africa and Greece and is a resource to the worldwide Deloitte firm on accounting and auditing issues for gaming.
He holds Master’s and B.S. degrees in accounting from Brigham Young University.
