Joseph Stangl

Joseph Stangl is a Principal in the Investment Banking Group of Sandler O’Neill + Partners, L.P. His responsibilities include advising financial services firms on mergers and acquisitions, capital raisings and FDIC-assisted transactions. 

Prior to joining Sandler O’Neill in 2004, he led the Bank M&A effort at Boston Private Financial Holdings. Prior to Boston Private, Mr. Stangl was a Director in the Financial Institutions investment banking group at CIBC World Markets, where he spent over three years working with a variety of banking, asset management and specialty finance companies. He began his career at KPMG LLP in its Financial Services audit practice, where, from 1993 to 1997, he focused primarily on commercial bank clients. Mr. Stangl’s recent transaction experience includes several FDIC-assisted transactions: First Midwest Bank’s acquisition of Waukegan Savings Bank; Huntington Bank’s acquisition of Fidelity Bank; First Financial Holdings’ acquisition of Plantation Federal Bank; Old National Bank’s acquisition of Integra Bank; First Merit’s acquisition of Midwest Bank and Trust Company; and Washington Federal’s acquisition of Horizon Bank. 

Mr. Stangl holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor of Arts from the College of the Holy Cross.
