John Schoenecker J.D.

John Schoenecker is the Senior Investigative Counsel responsible for tax issues on the Senate Finance Committee's Oversight and Investigations majority staff. During the previous Congress, he was a tax counsel on the House Ways and Means Committee’s majority tax staff where he worked on tax-exempt issues. Between 2007 and 2015, John was a trial attorney for the Department of Justice’s Tax Division where he litigated large tax-shelter cases throughout the country. He has also worked at an international law firm as well as a tax trade association. John earned both his law degree and his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University.
