John P. Nolan is a Senior Assistant Chief Accountant in the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance, responsible for resolving technical accounting, financial reporting and disclosure issues primarily in the financial services industry and managing an office of accounting professionals. Before joining the Commission in 1992, John served as a Controller and a Strategic Planning Officer in two Mid-Atlantic bank holding companies. He began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers and audited a variety of clients in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. John holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Maryland at College Park, where he graduated magna cum laude and a Master of Business Administration (Finance) from The American University in Washington, DC. John is a Certified Public Accountant (Maryland) and is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s.
