Joe O'Meara

EXPERIENCE

Joe is a director with BDO's Assurance practice serving nonprofit organizations by performing assurance and consulting services domestically and around the globe. He has worked with clients in many different sectors including international nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), arts and cultural, environmental, social services, and private foundations. Joe has extensive knowledge of the Uniform Guidance rules and regulations.

As part of his work supporting international NGOs, he travels the world and visits remote locations to perform audit and consulting work for organizations with operations in Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. Joe assists clients in developing and implementing robust processes and procedures for donor compliance, providing them with peace of mind and allowing them to focus on their mission.

As a Director, Joe oversees the planning and administrative aspects of audit engagements by ensuring that all services are delivered in a thorough, professional and efficient manner, as well as presenting engagement results and recommendations to client management and governance.

Joe is the only auditor to be invited to join the Humentum trainer and consultant team. To further his knowledge of US Government Grant compliance for international NGOs, he became the first ever audit professional to obtain Humentum’s Certification in USAID Award Management recognizing expertise in USAID rules and regulations, financial management, and procurement.
