Joe Gurney EA

Joe is a Managing Director and national leader of the Multistate Tax Services Real Estate Industry group. He has over 20 years of state and local income and franchise tax experience with industry specialization in real estate. Joe is experienced with income and franchise tax return preparation and review, refund reviews, restructuring, due diligence, tax controversy, and real estate transfer tax and mortgage recording tax planning. Prior to joining Deloitte Tax, Joe was Director of State & Local Tax at McDonald’s Corporation, where he was responsible for state taxes related to its real estate operations.

Joe received his Bachelor of Science, majoring in Accounting, from University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. He is Co-Chair of the State and Local Tax Subcommittee of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts. Joe has also been a frequent speaker on multistate tax matters for the real estate industry and is a published author on real estate transfer tax matters.
