Joe Adams practices business litigation with a focus on securities and shareholder litigation, corporate
investigations and intellectual property matters.
Joes litigation practice includes advising companies, boards of directors and individuals about resolving
litigation with shareholders and investors, conducting internal corporate investigations, and handling
disputes about the ownership and management of corporations. He defends public companies, officers and
directors in federal securities class actions, represents companies in shareholder derivative actions, ensures
that clients properly address whistleblower complaints under Dodd-Frank and other applicable laws, and
addresses issues raised by the SEC and other governmental agencies.
Joe also regularly represents clients in ERISA and employee benefits litigation. He represents employee
benefits plans, their employer sponsors, and fiduciaries faced with purported class actions and individual
claims for benefits. His recent experience includes defeating a motion for class certification in an ERISA
case and resolving significant individual claims for benefits.
Earlier in his career, Joe practiced intellectual property litigation with a large Silicon Valley law firm, and he
has substantial experience in resolving and prosecuting trademark, copyright, unfair competition and patent
claims.
