Jason Ezell

VP of Strategic Alliances, Automark Solutions

Jason Ezell is currently VP of Strategic Alliances at Automark Solutions, a company who specializes in auto shopper conversion, and he is an independent internet consultant specializing in website structure and strategy, consumer behavior, website traffic analysis and website analytics.

With almost 25 years of experience in the automotive industry, Ezell first managed dealerships for over 8 years before being invited to join Autotrader.com’s first sales team back in 1998. Soon after, Ezell took advantage of the Internet boom and started one of the most respected website companies of the early 2000’s, Dealerskins, that was acquired by Trader Publishing in 2005. Ezell continued with Dealerskins, consulting and educating dealers on website best practices and analytical tracking, before becoming President and Co-Founder of Dataium, LLC, the largest aggregator of auto shopper behavior data in the industry, in 2009.

Dataium was the first of its kind “Big Data” data aggregator that could collect, normalize, translate and report on auto shopper behavior across multiple website platforms in the automotive space. This allows dealers and OEMs to see the click paths of every type of buyer, analyze common behaviors and trends and market to these shoppers on a much more targeted basis. Dataium tracked over 9000 auto dealer websites to study the differences that make one site 5-8 times more effective. This was a huge breakthrough in website structure and best practice based on the size and depth of the database. Dataium was sold to IHS in 2014, who also recently bought POLK Data, so that the data can be merged into a much larger data set for full automotive lead-to-sell analysis.

Having all of this knowledge on consumer behavior and dealer websites, Ezell returned to his original passion for dealer websites by joining DealerOn as their VP of Sales Operations in March of 2014 for a 2 year contract to build out the company’s retail sales operations. From scratch, he structured their outside sales process, lead distribution process, sales call system and lead process, everything needed to ramp up sales in short order to meet their huge demand. Ezell recruited, hired, trained, and managed the people who built the company’s first ever outside sales team.

Upon completion of that role, Ezell recently partnered with Automark Solutions as the Vice President to expand the company’s product offerings at the dealer and OEM levels. The company specializes in converting existing website traffic into more, and higher qualified leads to dealers. Their conversion tools increase lead output from any auto dealer website from 46-122%.

As a member of JD Power’s Internet Round Table and a regular Digital Dealer Conference Speaker, Jason is well known as an expert in automotive Internet for his statistical approach to analyzing user data to better understand how to sell cars on the Internet.
