Jared R. Cloud JD

Jared R. Cloud is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm's Chicago office. He focuses his practice on trust and family business controversies, and has represented fiduciaries and beneficiaries in litigation before courts in numerous jurisdictions, as well as in connection with out-of-court negotiations and alternative dispute resolution such as arbitration and mediation. Representative engagements include: will and trust construction, contested accountings, trust reformation, actions for breach of fiduciary duty, and family business disputes. Jared is the author of the chapter “Going to Court – Or Not” in the Postmortem Estate Planning handbook published by the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education in 2010, and has spoken numerous times before the Chicago Bar Association’s Trust Law Committee, most recently on "The Fiduciary Exception to the Attorney-Client Privilege" in December 2012. Super Lawyers magazine named Jared as an Illinois Super Lawyer in Estate and Trust Litigation for 2012, 2013 and as a Rising Star in 2008 and 2009.
