Janine Cook is the Deputy Associate Chief Counsel in Tax Exempt and Government Entities for Exempt Organizations, Employment Tax, and Government Entities. She leads 5 branches with more than 50 professionals. Her branches have technical jurisdiction over issues specific to exempt organizations (including charities, private foundations, UBIT, and related excise taxes), employment tax issues for all taxpayers (including worker classification, fringe benefits, and self-employment tax) and certain specific issues related to government entities.
Prior to her becoming Deputy in 2011, Ms. Cook was a branch chief in the Employment Tax area and a partner in the D.C. office of the law firm of McDermott, Will & Emery. Ms. Cook is a graduate of Georgetown Law.
