James B. Willis CPA

Mr. Willis joined Gray Holdings, LLC as its Chief Financial Officer in November 2006 after a 24 year career in public accounting. In his role as CFO, he has oversight of all accounting and tax functions of a $700 million real estate investment and management company. Throughout his career, Mr. Willis's focus has been on real estate companies and pass-through entities. His clients have included closely-held real estate developers and operators, as well as mid-sized public companies. During his public accounting career, Mr. Willis served as a regional tax partner with BDO USA, LLP, where he was responsible for oversight of the tax practices from Washington DC to Charlotte, NC. In addition, Mr. Willis has held various positions with other national and local CPA firms. Mr. Willis received his B.S. in Accounting and Master of Taxation from Virginia Commonwealth University, where he has served as an Adjunct Professor in the Master of Taxation program. In addition to his work with Gray Holdings, Mr. Willis is a member of the faculty of Wake Forest University where he serves as an Associate Professor of Practice in the Master of Science in Accounting Program.
