Hon. David Barker (Ret.) served a Chief Judge of the Eighth Judicial District Court from 2015 until his retirement in 2017. Prior to being elected by his fellow district judges to act as the Chief Judge, he presided for eight years in the general jurisdiction civil/criminal department, handling thousands of cases and conducting jury and bench trials on all matters within his jurisdiction. A trained mediator, Judge Barker has conducted and settled hundreds of cases. He is past president of the Nevada District Judges Association and has been one of the most highly rated judges in the state. Judge Barker has received a national award and recognition for bringing innovation into to the judicial system.
