Tom currently serves as Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer of The Humane Society of the United States and its 13 national and international affiliates with assets of over $200 million and revenues of $180 million. In addition he serves as Treasurer of the Humane Society Legislative Fund, a politically active 501(c)(4) organization. Tom has been with the Society for more than 22 years having joined the Society in 1993. As Chief Financial Officer, Tom manages all assets and financial activity of the Society as well as information systems and technology, and accounting services.
Tom is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a Bachelor Degree in Commerce. He is a Certified Public Accountant (licensed in the State of Virginia) and a Charter Global Management Accountant. He has over 35 years of experience in real estate, private industry, accounting and non-profit organizations. Since 1996, Tom has served on the Board of Strayer University, first as a Trustee of the University and later as a Director of its publicly traded holding company, Strayer Education, Inc. He currently chairs its Audit Committee.
Tom resides in Vienna, Virginia with his wife Meg and “Silky Jack Terrier”, Eddie.
