A graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School in 1972, Mr. Hunter, now retired, was a former Fellow, American College of Trial Lawyers and a former member, The Advocates' Society of Ontario. Mr. Hunter was elected Treasurer (President) of the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2005, and appointed President of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada. Mr. Hunter has been engaged in numerous contexts for clients before all levels of courts and tribunals in Canada. He has appeared as Counsel before a commission of inquiry including into certain activities of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Counsel for the Minister of Justice before the Senate of Canada inquiry into the cancellation of the government contract privatizing the Toronto Pearson International Airport, and Counsel for the Deputy Minister of Public Works Canada before a commission of inquiry into 'sponsorship' activities of the Government of Canada (the Gomery Commission).
