Partner & National Practice Leader, Grant Thornton

Erica O’Malley is the national managing partner of the People Experience at Grant Thornton LLP and the national managing partner of the firm’s Employee Benefit Plan audit practice. In her role as national managing partner of the People Experience, O’Malley works closely with the firm’s leadership on the business imperative of creating and promoting a more inclusive work environment within our healthy high performing culture. O’Malley is a strong proponent of balancing personal and professional responsibilities, while making significant contributions to the industry.

An elected member of Grant Thornton’s Partnership Board, O’Malley has more than 28 years of experience in public accounting and over 20 years of experience in auditing benefit plans. In her role as national managing partner of the firm’s Employee Benefit Plans Audit practice, she has been integral to its growth, responsible for overseeing the execution of our strategy.

O’Malley was instrumental in developing the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Employee Benefit Audit Quality Center, a voluntary membership center for firms that audit employee benefit plans, and served as a founding member of its executive committee for three years.

She was the 2006 winner of the Women to Watch Award — a joint honor presented by the AICPA and the Illinois Certified Public Accountants Society (Illinois CPA Society), recognizing women who have made significant contributions to, and demonstrated leadership in, the accounting profession.
 
O’Malley is a board member of the Northern Illinois University Executive Leadership Forum and a board member of YWCA Metropolitan Chicago.
