Ella Karafiat

Ella Karafiat is a Professional Accounting Fellow in the Office of the Chief Accountant (OCA) at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Ella engages in consultations from registrants and advises other SEC Divisions and Offices on current novel and complex accounting issues related to revenue recognition, consolidation, business combinations, crypto assets, and income taxes and currently serves as OCA’s topic leader in consolidation accounting matters. Ella has also been involved in the oversight of various standard-setting activities by the FASB and evaluating accounting implications of certain regulatory rulemaking projects undertaken by the Commission or its staff. Prior to joining OCA, Ella held multiple roles at Deloitte, including in the audit practice and national office. Ella is a CPA licensed in Illinois and Washington and received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame.
