Associate Director, Program Integrity Office, VA

Elizabeth Morales is an Associate Director in the Program Integrity Office, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The Program Integrity Office leads the Seek to Prevent Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (STOP FWA) initiative and VA’s implementation of the Fraud Reduction and Data Analytics Act. Other activities performed by the Program Integrity Office include: coordinating intra-departmental fraud, waste, and abuse activities/issues, working with designated offices within the Administrations; providing oversight, direction, and coordination for assessing fraud risks and tracking fraud trends; completing required annual reporting related to fraud prevention activities and the Fraud Reduction and Data Analytics Act; conducting reviews using data analytics to detect and prevent fraud, waste, and abuse; and serving on inter-agency working groups associated with fraud, waste, and abuse.

Ms. Morales joined the VA in 2005 as an auditor in Management Quality Assurance Service, Office of Business Oversight, and gained experience on audit projects related to logistics, compensation and pension, purchase cards, and revenue. Ms. Morales helped coordinate the Department-level annual internal controls assessment in 2016 and 2017, before transitioning to her current role related to fraud, waste, and abuse. She has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from St. Edward’s University and is a Certified Public Accountant.
