Denis Hamel, CPA, CA, CA•IFA, CIRP, CFE, CFF is a Partner in MNP’s Investigative & Forensic Services group. Drawing on 27 years of extensive experience, Denis works closely with law enforcement, legal counsel and business leaders to address and prevent critical issues. Denis delivers strong advice and innovative solutions in the areas of fraud investigation, risk assessment related fraud and damage quantification. His expertise includes preparing fraud investigation, damage quantification and business interruption insurance claim reports. He has led numerous complex mandates for civil and criminal matters and testified as an expert in the Quebec Superior Court, the Federal Court and the Quebec Court of Appeal. His experience includes advising creditors, working on look-see and due diligence assignments, performing financial and operational reviews, as well as viability assessments. Prior to joining MNP, Denis led a forensics practice at a large accounting firm for more than 12 years. He has always been focused on understanding his clients’ needs and offering custom solutions, and helps his clients by grasping complex issues quickly, analyzing information and clearly describing issues and their impacts in layman terms. Denis was designated a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA*) in 1987 and designated in Investigative and Forensic Accountant (CA•IFA) in 2001. He is a Canadian Insolvency Restructuring Practitioner and Certified Fraud Examiner. Denis also holds the CFF (Certified in Financial Forensics) designation. Active in his industry, Denis is a member of numerous associations. *In 1987, this designation was referred to as Chartered Accountant.
