Debra has more than 30 years of finance and accounting experience, including 15 years specifically in the areas of auditing, forensic accounting and fraud examinations. She uses these skills in financial statement audits, investigations, due diligence engagements, bankruptcy matters, and disputes and has served as a testifying expert at deposition and trial in relation to her investigative and bankruptcy-related work. Prior to founding DK Thompson, LLC, Debra was a director in McGladrey’s litigation and investigation services practice and led the forensic accounting and fraud investigation services for the firm’s Western Region. Formerly, Debra was a principal and the practice leader of the forensic accounting and fraud investigation practice at CliftonLarsonAllen, an Accounting Today top 10-ranked national accounting firm. Debra is a frequent national speaker on numerous topics and has been actively involved in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the national oversight organization of certified public accountants. In addition, she led a team of experts who joined her in authoring an AICPA book, “White Collar Crime: Core Concepts for Consultants and Expert Witnesses”, a reference for consultants and expert witnesses on the practice of conducting investigations.
